The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said in a statement that the forced eviction of thousands of Baloch families from Shorparod is a systematic state policy to make the Baloch nation strangers in their own ancestral land, impose collective punishment, and erase the Baloch national existence, identity and historical attachment through state repression.

The committee said that forcing thousands of Baloch families in Shorparod to leave their ancestral land is not merely a matter of depriving them of their homes and lands, but an oppressive step that harms their economic independence, cultural identity, historical attachment and collective life. When people are ordered to vacate their homes and threatened with force if they refuse, their lives, safety and future are plunged into fear and uncertainty. The effects are not limited to homelessness; they also affect livelihoods, education, social ties and cultural attachments built over generations. Evicting the people of Shorparod from their ancestral land violates their fundamental rights to be safe in their own homes, to maintain a life tied to their land and to have authority over decisions about their future. It is an attempt to separate an entire population from its land through coercion.

The statement said the Baloch Yakjehti Committee regards these measures as collective punishment of the Baloch people and an expression of the logic of state terror under which, to maintain its rule, the very people settled on the land are forced to leave it.

According to the committee, to justify the forced eviction and win people over, the government is making promises of temporary camps, food and medicines, but tents cannot replace ancestral homes and aid cannot make up for the loss of land. First evicting people from their land and then providing temporary shelter cannot replace the protection of their fundamental rights.

The committee said the Baloch Yakjehti Committee categorically rejects the orders to the people of Shorparod to vacate the area and the threats of forced eviction, and demands that these orders be withdrawn immediately, that the protection of the local population be ensured, and that people’s right to live with dignity, freedom and safety in their homes, lands and ancestral areas be respected.

The statement said: we make clear that we will not accept any attempt to weaken the collective existence, identity and future of the Baloch people by evicting them from their ancestral land. The land of the Baloch nation is not an empty territory on which decisions can be imposed while ignoring the will, history and rights of the people who live there. Our homes are not merely buildings, our land is not merely geography, and our presence does not depend on any order. This land is part of our history, our identity and our collective life. We do not need anyone’s permission to live on our own land. The historical connection of the Baloch people cannot be ended by evicting them from their land, nor can any nation be forced through threats, coercion and force to give up its identity and ancestral land.
