The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) strongly condemns the demolition of Abdul Rab’s home in Dalbandin by the Pakistani army.

In a statement to the media, it said demolishing ordinary citizens’ homes is an attempt by the death squad government in Balochistan to hide its political failure and advance hostility towards the Baloch and genocide by subjecting the Baloch to fear, forced eviction and collective punishment.

It said the burning and demolition of ordinary people’s homes in Jiwani, Mand and various areas of Balochistan are links in the same chain through which the Baloch people are continuously targeted. Targeting a person’s home and family under the cover of action against an individual or family is a grave violation of basic human rights and civil liberties.

The statement said the Baloch Yakjehti Committee regards such actions as a form of collective punishment and rejects them. We once again appeal to the international community and international human rights bodies to take immediate notice of the ongoing collective punishment, forced eviction and actions against the civilian population in Balochistan, to investigate these incidents independently and to play an effective role in ensuring the protection and basic rights of the affected families.
