The Baloch Students Action Committee, Quetta zone, set up book stalls under the banner of the Balochistan Book Caravan at various places, including Brewery, Sariab, Faiz Muhammad Road bazaar, Polytechnic College and the University of Balochistan. The aim of setting up the book stalls is to draw the people of Balochistan, especially young people, towards books and to promote reading in society. Young people play a fundamental role in the progress of any nation. If a nation’s young people want to become creative, aware and enlightened, they must turn to books, because a book broadens a person’s thinking, creates awareness and offers a new angle for understanding life.
BSAC’s aim is not only to set up book stalls, but to build a strong intellectual and academic bond between young people and books. The organisation is trying to provide young people with a positive, academic environment in which they make reading part of their lives, develop their intellectual abilities and play a positive role while avoiding social evils. If we want progress, success and positive change in our society, we must make books our friends. Distance from books can deprive people of knowledge and awareness, while reading develops critical thinking, creativity and social awareness among young people.
As a student organisation, BSAC is trying to highlight the importance of books across Balochistan and set up book stalls at various places, so that the young people of Balochistan grow close to books, gain knowledge and awareness and use their abilities in positive activities. Books on various subjects were displayed at these stalls, including history, politics, philosophy, literature, science and other academic subjects. A large number of students visited the stalls and bought their favourite books. The Balochistan Book Caravan is not merely an activity, but an effort to build an aware, educated, enlightened and progressive society.
