A mosque and several homes of the local population were badly damaged by Pakistani army drone attacks and aerial bombing in the Naghar area of Surab, Balochistan.
According to a statement issued by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Pakistani forces last night carried out heavy bombing and drone strikes on civilian-populated areas of Naghar, Surab. The aggression destroyed a mosque, a sacred religious site, as well as the homes of unarmed citizens sleeping in their houses.
The BYC strongly condemned the attack, calling it an open assault on public safety, dignity and the basic right to life, and the state’s cowardly violence and terrorism.
The incident has sparked intense anger and outrage among the local population. In protest against the forces’ brutality, the people of Naghar and Surab held a complete shutter-down strike in Surab Bazaar and blocked the important RCD highway at Naghar to all traffic.
The protesters say the state policy of destroying sacred places, mosques and the daily lives of innocent citizens will not be accepted under any circumstances. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee demanded that the international community and human rights organisations take immediate action on this grave situation and hold those involved in this brutality accountable.
