Balochistan Assembly member Zabid Reki protested strongly and threw down his passport after being stopped at the airport in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.

Later, speaking on a point of order in the Balochistan Assembly session, JUI MPA Zabid Reki said that when he reached the airport to travel to Madina, FIA personnel stopped him and declared him a terrorist. On further inquiry, he learned that Additional Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat had had his passport blocked and that he had been placed on the ECL and PCL.

Zabid Reki said he does not know what sin he has committed; he has always spoken about rights. When he goes to Washuk, militants are after him, and when he comes to Quetta he is declared a terrorist. He asked to be told which banned organisation he is linked to, and said that if there is evidence against him it should be brought forward, and Hamza Shafqaat should be summoned and asked for the evidence.

In protest, Zabid Reki threw his passport onto the assembly floor.

Balochistan’s puppet chief minister called the act of throwing the passport inappropriate, saying he apologised for the member being stopped at the airport, but throwing the passport was not appropriate.

The chief minister said the Additional Secretary Home had been summoned and the matter would be discussed in chambers.

Zabid Reki apologised for throwing the passport, saying he had no ill intention.
