Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr Sabiha Baloch has issued a detailed statement on the social media platform X saying that some journalists try to avoid speaking the truth by calling the BYC and PTM “suspicious” and saying their position is not clear, while the reality becomes perfectly clear from the current judicial tactics and the state’s conduct.
In her statement, Dr Sabiha Baloch said BYC leaders are imprisoned on false charges and baseless cases have also been brought against PTM leaders. In addition, lawyers such as Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha, who have always fought the cases of the oppressed, are themselves behind bars today with harsh sentences.
Criticising the state’s methods, she said that after years of struggle, when someone is released in one case, they are re-arrested in another case at the very gate of the jail. This is not justice but an organised system for prolonging imprisonment, and the courts are playing the role of puppets in this whole game.
Explaining her position, she said that in the early days of the crackdown some comrades advised her to face the law instead of going into hiding, but her answer is that she does not fear the law, because she is not a criminal in the eyes of the law; however, she will not of her own free will set foot in buildings where the law has been buried and those sitting around it call this process a “court”.
At the end of her statement, Dr Sabiha Baloch stressed that prolonging imprisonment by repeatedly bringing new cases is in fact the strongest endorsement of political activists’ position. This very process makes clear who is the terrorist and war profiteer and who is the real political activist, so those who still say the position is not clear should remember that neutrality in the face of oppression actually means siding with the oppressor.
