In Balochistan’s Khuzdar and Chagai districts, armed men have targeted a large 40-vehicle convoy of the Pakistani army and the ringleader of a state ‘death squad’ with a bomb blast and gunfire.

According to initial reports, the forces’ personnel and death squad operatives suffered heavy casualties in these attacks.

According to sources, after an important bridge was destroyed on Sunday in the Karkh area of Khuzdar district, Baloch armed men kept up a continuous blockade and snap checking on an alternative dirt road from 6 pm to 6 am.

This morning, armed men suddenly ambushed a large military convoy of about 40 Pakistani forces vehicles passing along the same alternative route.

Heavy casualties among the forces’ personnel have been reported in the attack, but final figures are yet to emerge.

Meanwhile, at Koh-e-Taran in the Dalbandin area of Chagai district, armed men targeted the vehicle of Shahjahan, alias Shaho, the ringleader of a state-sponsored ‘death squad’, according to local sources.

According to reports, Shaho’s vehicle was first hit by a powerful bomb blast, immediately followed by a heavy armed attack.

Reports of further loss of life and property have been received after the incident, but further details are awaited.

According to ground sources, forces’ contingents have reached the areas concerned after the attacks and the blockade has been tightened.
