As part of its campaign to raise international awareness about Balochistan, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) ran a publicity campaign with a digital truck in New York City on Friday. The campaign was held during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, highlighting the human rights situation in Balochistan and the demands of the Baloch nation before the international community.
During the BNM’s digital truck campaign, messages and publicity material about Balochistan were broadcast on digital screens moving along New York City’s busy roads and various public places. The campaign aimed to draw the attention of international representatives, journalists, citizens and those attending the UN session in the city to the situation in Balochistan.
The campaign highlighted various issues, including human rights violations in Balochistan, enforced disappearances, the arrests of political activists and women, military offensives, the destruction of homes, the exploitation of natural resources and the resulting environmental problems.
The messages broadcast on the digital truck emphasised global awareness about Balochistan, an end to enforced disappearances and speaking up for the rights of the Baloch people. Through this publicity campaign, the BNM tried to make the Balochistan issue directly part of international attention in New York’s urban environment.
This digital truck campaign was part of the BNM’s wider global awareness campaign under which the organisation highlights the political and human rights situation in Balochistan before international cities and global institutions. Holding the campaign during the UN General Assembly session in New York was important because political representatives, diplomats, journalists and other international figures from around the world were in the city at the time.
BNM American chapter president Sami Baloch said the main aim of the campaign was to take messages about Balochistan to as many people as possible through digital means and to inform the international community about the situation in Balochistan.
