Afghanistan’s Taliban government says Pakistan carried out air strikes in the country’s Kunar and Helmand provinces last night, killing and injuring several people.

Zabihullah Mujahid said nine people were killed and 11 injured in the attacks. According to the spokesperson, women and children are among the dead.

He also released photos on his X account of children killed in the attacks.

Afghan officials say three homes were also destroyed in the attacks.

No position has yet come from Pakistan on the matter.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s government confirmed the strikes, claiming its forces successfully targeted alleged “militant hideouts” at two locations in Afghanistan and killed several militants.

A statement issued on X by Pakistan’s information ministry claimed that, in continuation of “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq” and to eliminate militants, their networks and facilitators, planned air strikes were carried out on the hideouts and safe havens of militant organisations.

The statement said that, acting on confirmed intelligence, militant hideouts and havens at two locations in Afghanistan were targeted. The information ministry claimed the strikes were carried out with great precision.

The statement claimed the targets were successfully destroyed and, according to initial reports, 22 alleged militants were also killed in the strikes.

According to the information ministry, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition there was also destroyed in the strikes.

Pakistani officials did not specify in which area of Afghanistan the strikes were carried out.
