Reports have emerged of heavy clashes between armed men and the Magsi “peace force” in the Nafoor area of Jhal Magsi, Balochistan.
Local sources say the whole area echoed with the clashes and firing, and heavy weapons were used on both sides.
According to police, heavy firing and clashes took place last night between armed men and the Magsi peace force at Sargani Dam in the Nafoor area of Jhal Magsi.
Police claimed that heavy weapons were used on both sides, but the peace force fought bravely and repelled the armed men’s attack, and the armed men managed to escape under cover of darkness, while the peace force cordoned off the whole area and began search raids.
It should be noted that yesterday the Pakistani army and local tribal chiefs held a jirga to confront Baloch pro-freedom fighters, at which a “peace force” made up of tribesmen was formed. The Pakistani army has suffered heavy casualties in deadly attacks by Baloch pro-freedom fighters, after which it has gone fully onto the defensive. As in the past, the forces are now making new plans to use local people against the pro-freedom fighters so that the Baloch can be set against one another.
