Jeeyand Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), claimed responsibility in a statement to the media for the attack on the Pakistan Coast Guard in Jiwani, saying 13 Pakistani army personnel were killed in the Hammal Maritime Defence Force attack in Jiwani.

According to the spokesperson, the BLA’s naval unit, the Hammal Maritime Defence Force (HMDF), simultaneously targeted two large boats of the occupying Pakistani army’s coast guards in Jiwani, Gwadar, in an organised and intense attack, killing 13 occupying army personnel on the spot. The Baloch Liberation Army claims responsibility for this successful operation.

He said that, expanding the scope of the Baloch national freedom movement, the Baloch Liberation Army formally announced on 13 April 2026 the establishment of its regular naval wing, the Hammal Maritime Defence Force (HMDF), to defend the Baloch seas and protect Baloch coastal resources. Upon its establishment, on 12 April 2026, this force carried out its first naval attack at Mil Tiyab in Jiwani, Gwadar, targeting a patrol boat of the occupying navy and killing three navy personnel.

He said the BLA has named this special naval unit after Hammal Jeeyand Baloch, the great sixteenth-century figure of Baloch maritime resistance. Hammal Jeeyand Baloch is the son of history who laid the foundation of naval resistance against the most advanced colonial power of that era, the Portuguese, and proved with his military insight that national spirit and guerrilla strategy always triumph against a well-resourced colonial power. The Hammal Maritime Defence Force is the continuation of this honoured historical legacy, with the aim of defending the occupied coasts and paralysing the enemy’s naval movement.

Finally, he said more detailed information in this regard will be released to the media soon.
