Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers protested for a second day today in Bara, Khyber district—Sohail Afridi’s home area—against governor’s rule and the imposition of an emergency in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

On the first day, no party leader was present at the protest, but on Tuesday provincial assembly member Abdul Ghani Afridi arrived at the Bara Bypass on a motorcycle, where a large number of PTI workers were already present.

In his speech, he instructed the workers to continue peaceful protest against governor’s rule and the imposition of the emergency and to reject the central government’s move.

After the speech, the workers headed to Bara bazaar, where a large police contingent was already deployed on Alam Godar Road.

Police used batons and tear gas and fired into the air to disperse the protesters. However, there were more PTI workers today than the previous day.

The protesters threw stones at the police and managed to push the police back from Khyber Chowk.

Participants in the protest burned tyres and items forcibly taken from the police.

However, the police action to disperse the workers continued.

The protesters threw stones at nearby NADRA and Rescue offices.

After that, a large number of protesters headed towards the Pak-Afghan highway, where police continued to fire tear gas.
