Two people, including a boat captain and his assistant, were killed and several others injured in firing on boats involved in the Iranian oil trade in the coastal area of Jiwani, Balochistan.
Those killed have been identified as Irfan and Zameer Ahmed, both said to be from the Naal area of Khuzdar district.
According to local sources, a militia and death squads allegedly backed by the Pakistan Coast Guards were involved in the firing.
Local sources say the death squad was seen at the scene with speedboats during the incident.
Public and local circles say these death squads have been involved many times before in such violent firing incidents on poor ordinary workers in the Iranian oil trade, causing fear in the region’s coastal areas and deep anger among the public.
